Dorint Hotel Beatenberg - Place in the Lodge amidst a unique alpine landscape

Four-star hotel with striking triangular architecture

Across from the famous mountain massif of the Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau mountains, on the sunny terrace of the Bernese Oberland, high above the turquoise shimmering Lake Thun, lies the tranquil village of Beatenberg. The idyllic mountain village was once a popular holiday destination for mainly aristocratic guests: At the turn of the century, the Russian aristocracy, but also the crown prince Friedrich of Prussia were attracted to the health resort. However, the tourist boom came to an abrupt end with the First World War. However, several buildings are still reminiscent of this era.

Although Russian noblemen are hardly ever to be found in Beatenberg today, the 1,200-metre-high street village is still a worthwhile holiday destination. For more than three decades, Dorint Blüemlisalp Beatenberg Interlaken has been a guarantor of wellness holidays. The hotel with its striking triangular architecture stands on a box seat in the heart of a unique alpine landscape high above the roofs of Interlaken and Lake Thun. From the 128 cosy apartments you can look directly at the famous mountain range Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau. The four-star hotel guarantees fantastic holidays both in summer and winter, offering ideal opportunities for sports and fun as well as a wide range of leisure activities. Guests who come here for their holidays can expect an unforgettable nature experience. It is not without reason that Beatenberg is a candidate for the invitation to tender for the Swiss Regional Nature Park.

All apartments and the hotel's swimming pool have been recently renovated. The sauna and fitness area was also renovated. Guests have access to a bathing, sauna and fitness centre of 600 square metres. In this way, the house also meets the future requirements of the guests. These consist of 70 percent of individual travellers, many of whom are regular guests. Group trips account for 21 percent and conference guests for nine percent. The occupancy rate is 65 percent. Today, the Dorint Hotel Blüemlisalp Beatenberg plays the most important role in the tourist offer of the village and is economically, politically and culturally indispensable. This was not always the case: When the hotel was opened in 1979, not all residents were pleased with the building, which was oversized for Beatenberg. The modern architecture and the size of the terraced complex disturbed many locals. 30 years later, hotel director Rob Bruijstens, his family and staff are fully accepted and integrated into village life. Some Beatenbergers regularly come to the cosy hotel bar for a beer, including the famous writer Erich von Däniken.

The Dorint Blüemlisalp Beatenberg is not only one of the best locations in the village, it is also the hotel with the most upscale facilities: this includes an underground car park, a swimming pool, a sauna area as well as seven conference and event rooms that can accommodate up to 250 people. A wide range of sports and leisure activities, from table tennis or miniature golf to organised walks, surfing or sailing on the nearby Lake Thun, ensure a relaxing holiday. In winter, the pistes and winter hiking trails of the Niederhorn or the ski areas in the neighbouring Jungfrau region entice.
